I started climbing when I was 17 years old and have climbed around the world, indoors and outdoor. Climbing has been a big part of my life and I wanted to share the joy of climbing with this wonderful and growing community! Jake and I built The Jug in 2022, becoming the first and only rock gym in Redmond. Smith Rock is the birthplace of American Sport Climbing, and we wanted to create a gym that mimics the essence of Smith, so you can train all year for your projects! You can find me at The Jug working the front desk, filling in for lessons, route setting, performing maintenance, and lending a helping hand to anyone that needs it!
I Started climbing about a decade ago as a way to meet new people and stay active. After my first session, I was hooked. Climbing has been a huge part of my life since. I've climbed around the country learning new techniques, different rock styles and meeting people in the community. These days I am more stoked to teach new climbers than I am to climb my own projects. Seeing the smile on a new climbers face after sending a route is by far more rewarding. It has been an absolute pleasure to bring this gym to Redmond.
Hannah has been climbing in Central Oregon since she was in middle school! She has over 15 years of experience climbing, and over 5 years of experience coaching children and young adults. She loves Bouldering and Sport Climbing, and dabbles in comp climbing now and again. In her spare time, she’s also the Dean at Obsidian Middle School!
I’ve been climbing for nearly twenty years, and established many climbs at Smith Rock. In addition, I’ve become an avid trail runner. Letting these two passions take me to places across the entire country. These activities have also allowed me to share various parts of the country with my wife and son. If I’m running on granite I’m thinking about the climbs. If I’m climbing sandstone I’m thinking about the trail on the canyon floor. Often to return the next day to climb a route I found or run a trail I saw. Each feeds the other.
My name is Dyno, I am afraid of heights and definitely don't rock climb! Although I don't climb, I consider myself the mascot of The Jug. I enjoy meeting climbers, booping them with my nose, and licking chalk off of their hands! When I am not helping out at The Jug you can find me out at Smith Rock running around, sniffing things, and watching climbers crush it! I am not always at The Jug, but when I am, feel free to say hello!
We sell a small line of climbing gear and products. Save a trip and get it local! We would be nothing without the support from our partners and the local climbing community. Click on our partner's logos to check out their webpage, and see all amazing work they do to elevate the great sport of rock climbing!
